Kelvyn Boy Might Be Sued for Copyright infringement - GHAMRO CEO Explains!!!

Afrobeats musician, Kelvyn Boy might be sued to court as a result of copyright infringement. There have been issues that he has stolen lines from Oheneba Kusi's song to reproduce his own song "Na You" which featured the Bhimnation Boss Stonebwoy.

Early last year Kelvyboy was in the news of copyright infringement for using a line of words in one of Ghana's highlife legend oheneba Kissi song "Asem Ben". The Burniton Music Group artiste, Kelvyboy later apologised to the highlife legend and admitted that fact that he did not consult Oheneba Kissi before using the song.

But later today in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak hit on hit FM the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) Mr. Abraham Adjatey speaking on copyright issues threw a word of advice for the highlife legend to take necessary action.

According to Mr. Abraham Adjatey, ''under the section 5 of the law, it is only Oheneba Kusi that can approve, employ, communicate and reproduce and has the right to go to court also, for claim damages''.

He further stated that musicians, producers, right owners should be aware of the fact that there should be some form of permission granted intending to use someone's music or lyrical contents.

He said that all music right owners literally by the law are members of GHAMRO so the organization is responsible for softening the ground so the person who has used the words of another artist in his or her own music would have to come into contact with the owner to clarify things, discuss it financially and sign the necessary documents if any.
